Constitution of
Taekwon-Do Leicester
Date: 6th February 2024
Article I: Name
The name of this organisation shall be "Taekwon-Do Leicester."
Article II: Objectives
The objectives of Taekwon-Do Leicester are:
To promote and teach the art of Taekwon-Do in Leicester and surrounding areas.
To foster physical fitness, mental well-being, and ethical development among its members.
To provide a positive and inclusive environment for individuals to learn and practise Taekwon-Do.
Article III: Membership
Section 1: Founder Member Mr. Ian Spencer, 5th Dan, shall be recognised as the Founder Member and an instrumental figure in the establishment of Taekwon-Do Leicester.
Section 2: Eligibility Membership in Taekwon-Do Leicester is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds who express a genuine interest in learning and practising Taekwon-Do.
Section 3: Rights and Responsibilities Members have the right to:
Participate in all activities organised by Taekwon-Do Leicester.
Vote in organisational matters.
Access training facilities and resources.
Members have the responsibility to:
Uphold the principles and values of Taekwon-Do.
Respect Mr. Ian Spencer and fellow members and instructors.
Abide by the rules and regulations set forth by Taekwon-Do Leicester.
Section 4: Membership Categories There shall be different membership categories, including but not limited to:
Regular Members
Honorary Members
Junior Members
Article IV: Governance
Section 1: Executive Committee Taekwon-Do Leicester shall be governed by an Executive Committee composed of elected officers, including but not limited to:
Chief Instructor & President (Mr. Ian Spencer, 5th Dan)
Unrelated Committee Member 1 (To be elected)
Unrelated Committee Member 2 (To Be elected)
Section 2: Duties of the Executive Committee The Executive Committee shall collectively:
Preside over meetings and provide leadership.
Assist in the performance of duties typically undertaken by the Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, as necessary.
Oversee training programmes and ensure adherence to Taekwon-Do principles.
Article V: Meetings
Section 1: General Meetings General meetings of Taekwon-Do Leicester shall be held regularly to discuss organisational matters and allow members to voice their opinions.
Section 2: Special Meetings Special meetings may be called by the Executive Committee or upon the request of a specified number of members.
Article VI: Amendments
This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present at a general meeting, provided that notice of the proposed amendment has been given in advance.
Article VII: Dissolution
In the event of dissolution, any remaining assets after the satisfaction of debts shall be distributed to charitable organisations as determined by the Executive Committee.
